There were some beliefs that had to be followed when it was time for the wedding to provide the couple's house. For instance, in some Bulgarian regions, it was customary for godparents to hang a special symbol at the couple's home after carefully discarding it to protect the newlyweds from negative secret and evil influences. The flag was sewn with red or green threads and hung from the groom.

There may also be another superstitions, depending on the area. For instance, in Montenegro, the honeymooners were required to action over a doormat that had been covered in knives because this was supposed to guarantee that they would have kids. Additionally, it was common practice in Kosovo for the wife to bite guy from her mother-in-law's finger. This was intended to keep the two's interactions calm and to guarantee their happiness and success.

There would be a ton of dancing and outrageous entertaining following the civil and religious service. People enjoyed sipping rakia to savor the happiness of marriage. And even though weddings these days are more about the pair than the celebration and having, they are still a happy occasion for everyone who attends.
